Jindabyne Flowing Festival

When: 18th - 19th February 2012

Come and experience this fantastic EVENT set in Banjo Paterson Park on the foreshore of beautiful Lake Jindabyne. Enjoy family picnic, live entertainment and amusement rides on Saturday night or be apart of the 7th Lake Jindabyne Dragon Boat Challenge on Sunday. Sunday's program also features the Renewable Energy and Climate Change Expo and huge Market Day, Food stalls and amusement rides.
The entertainment will Flow throughout the weekend.

2012 Thredbo Jazz, Funk & Groove Festival - 23 – 25 March 2012

3 days of jazz, food, wine and mountains of fun!

This not for profit community festival is a 3 day celebration of jazz music, great food and wine set in picturesque Thredbo in the heart of the spectacular Snowy Mountains.

The festival program features over 120 performers seen in 15 indoor and open air venues including the spectacular setting at the top of the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift, bars, restaurants and the Thredbo Village Square, taking the jazz lover on a musical and scenic journey around Thredbo.

Come and be part of this festival showcasing some of Australia’s finest jazz music.

Spring & Summer in Jindabyne

4WD Offroad & Quadbiking - A quad bike or 4WD tour at Snowy Wilderness gives you a challenging ride through an unspoilt and pristine sanctuary.

Kosciuszko Alpine Guided Walks - Experience the beauty of the Kosciuszko National Park with guided treks featuring fully catered overnight campsites.

Kosciuszko Express Chairlift - The scenic chairlift is open 365 days a year, is 1.8km long and rises 560 vertical metres. The ride takes 15 minutes one way and offers spectacular valley views.

Climbing, Caving & Abseiling - The Snowies boast some of the best adventure specialist companies in the country, staffed by trained and safety-conscious professionals.

Fishing - Enlist one of the local fishing guides to teach you how to Fly-fish and show you how to catch one of the magnificent wild mountain trout.

Horse Riding - Riding is big in this part of the world, unsurprising when you consider it’s the home of ‘The Man from Snowy River’. Guided treks through the mountains, lasting from two hours to two days or more, are a must for horse-fans

Mountain Biking & Cycling - Whether it is the trill of a downhill rush or tackling cross country trails, there are all types of mountain biking available in the Snowy Mountains.

Watersports - Canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing or power-boating – anyone who loves a day on the water will find plenty to do on Lake Jindabyne.

Areas within the Snowy Mountains

Adaminaby - The original Adamniaby township was relocated in the 1950s when the Eucumbene River was dammed to form Lake Eucumbene.

Adelong - This unique heritage-listed township has a rich gold mining past. Over 25 tonnes of gold was mined from 1857 to the close of the mine in 1914.

Batlow - The town of Batlow, 30kms south of Tumut, is famous for its bountiful apple, cherry and stonefruit orchards.

Berridale - Surrounding the township, and a cause of much interest, are the unusual granite boulders unique to this region. Crystallised as a large mass from magma many kilometres below the surface, the granite formed around 400 million years ago.

Bombala - The rivers around Bombala have some of the highest populations of platypus in New South Wales, with the area promoted as “Australia’s platypus capital”. A visit to the Platypus Sanctuary, just out of town, is well worth it.

Bredbo - Bredbo is a pretty town and the site of the annual Spring Ute Muster and the annual Sheep Dog Trials.

Cabramurra - Australia’s highest town at an altitude of 1488m above sea level. The town was built by the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Authority in the 1950s as a base for the northern administration of the Scheme.

Charlottes Pass - Completely snowbound at the top of Australia, this pristine alpine resort is visually spectacular with sweeping views of Mount Kosciuszko and the main range, and offers some of the country’s best skiing.

Cooma - Set among rolling plains, legendary rivers and snow covered peaks, Cooma is the largest town in the Snowy Mountains region and the gateway to the state’s alpine area.

Dalgety - The historic village of Dalgety on the banks of the Snowy River is the only town left on the Snowy River in New South Wales, after the Snowy Scheme was built and the old towns of Jindabyne and Adaminaby were flooded.

Jindabyne - The original town of Jindabyne was relocated in the 1960′s when the Snowy River was dammed as part of the Snowy Mountains Scheme. The remains of the old town lie submerged under Lake Jindabyne, they can occasionally be glimpsed when lake levels are low.

Khancoban - Overlooking a lake and central to many popular trout streams, it provides an ideal location for fishing, boating, whitewater rafting, canoeing and waterskiing or a relaxed game of golf with the kangaroos at the Khancoban Country Club.

Perisher Valley - The four resorts areas of Perisher are connected by the Skitube, ski trails and chairlifts. Altogether it has a total of more than 45 lifts, a downhill skiable area of over 1250 hectares and 104km of cross country trails.

Talbingo - The opportunity to explore Buddong Falls, Yarrangobilly Caves, historic Kiandra, huts and homes of the pioneers are all within reach of this ideal location.

Thredbo - Thredbo is a picturesque alpine village nestled into the foothills of Australia’s highest mountains, in the beautiful Kosciuszko National Park.

Tumbarumba - It has a rich heritage in gold mining, timber, agriculture and viticulture; the reputation of the established cool climate wines continues to gain momentum, expanding the wine producing industry.

Tumut - The town has a population of over 6,000, a modern cosmopolitan shopping centre and an excellent range of accommodation and activities.
